"It's not smart to underestimate your opponents like that."
L paused to sip some more bland, gross tea.
"As you probably already know, I am investigating the Kira case at the moment. Racing alongside me are several other potential successors, all focused on catching Kira and staying alive. I can...permit you to join in the competition, in which case you will be competing directly against me. Is this more to your liking?"

L seriously hoped Beyond was joking about that whole watching him sleep thing.
"Actually, it does matter how you got my name, because I need to know if officially changing it will be enough, or if you'll manage to find it out again. Also, I'm sure you won't use it to kill me because then you'd have no 'ultimate rival' so I believe I should be safe in that regard."
