L let up on his crushing hug and now just cuddled Near. He was kind of cold now, and Near was a nice source of heat. He sighed into the white head of hair.

Near wasn't quite sure what was wrong with L. This just made him worry more about L dying.

L licked his lips and tasted the faint strawberry flavour from the lip chap he'd applied last night. He also tasted the grape from his cough medicine. He took another little sip, some of it dribbling down his chin. "Mello, please pass me my chap stick."
