L didn't want to comment back, but he needed to keep Beyond in the room for 11 more minutes before back-up came. He could press his panic button, but the other man would probably see it and he didn't want to risk any erratic, dangerous behaviour, particularly now that he was in closed quarters with the criminal.
"Did you get that wound during your escape, I wonder?" L asked, indicating the red stain spreading over Beyond's stomach.

He looked down.

He rolled up the shirt to show L the place where the bullet had nicked his flesh, and how he'd attempted to sew it up.

L never flinched. He'd seen worse over the years -- at least Beyond's guts were still held on the inside. Still though, this pretty much ensured that Beyond wouldn't be able to get away. Out-run Watari? Ha.
