L paused and looked around his newest penthouse suite in approval. Stacks of dessert packages stared back at him from the table tops.
Everyone had agreed that it'd probably be safer for all involved if L was the one who organized the event, their annual reunion.
While the Kira case was still open, L had argued against their yearly tradition, but in this instance even he couldn't say no to Roger's insistence. "It'd give everyone a good morale boost. You never visit anymore."
Damn that old man.
So here he was, setting up (or rather, watching as Watari set up) the food and drinks. There was a chess set in the corner and a few puzzles for the nerdier children to work on.

L shuffled over and opened the door. Huh, Near was first. He'd expected Mello, what with the blond's competitive streak, but it was nice to see Near first. Especially since he could just hand the boy a 1000 piece blank puzzle and not have to entertain him some other way.

L smiled and quickly gestured Near inside. While he had purchased the entire building, it was better to practice precaution.

Near looked around....he hated these reunions......mostly because he wasn't a people person. The only person he was happy to see was L.

"Hi." he said loudly to announce his arrival.
B had slid in unnoticed, and was hiding under a table

L went to greet Mello warily. Roger'd said he was at the rebellious stage. Not one to be deterred, L offer Mello a Wonka bar with his hello.

L patted Mello's head like he always used to do and wondered what Roger was talking about. Mello was still a good kid. "Is Matt coming?" he asked.
