Mello was raised in Wammy's House alongside L, Near and Matt. He's struggled all his life to be the best at everything he does, and longs to become number one, surpassing both his hero L and his rival Near. He is reckless and cannot always control his emotions. He takes huge risks, but only when he thinks they will pay off. Although he is trying to capture Kira at any cost, he often seems to disregard human life. He hardly trusts anybody, not even himself.
