L made some notes about Mello's possible abandonment issues. Almost all orphans experienced a type of anxiety about being left alone again, so it wasn't unusual. Even he felt a little homesick during his time underground.
Mello tapped his fingers against his phone. The conversation was going nowhere, but he was putting off having to stop talking and deal with his own thoughts. He didn't even have a motorbike to take out his frustrations anymore.
Mello sighed. He wasn't sure whether he'd rather L actually was dead. This had opened up all of his anger and frustration all over again. But at the same time... he thought about what it would be like if it tuned out to be a trick and L was dead after all. He couldn't deny that he was looking forward to seeing L in a way.
L looked down at himself. He was still wearing his baggy jeans, though he traded his white top for a beige one (to better hide the coffee stains). Maybe he'd wear something different at their meeting. Just to shake things up a bit.
