Dirty Little Secret (L)

[Mello]

"Of course not. I steal my sugar sachets from a cafe." he retorted

[L]

"...." L went to sit down in his chair.

[Mello]

Beyond followed, mirroring L's movements on a chair opposite.

[L]

"So, where have you been these past few weeks?" L began slowly.

[Mello]

"Oh, you know. Hanging. Seeing the sights. And yourself?"
L's slightly suspicious expression made Beyond smirk inwardly

[L]

"I suppose I've been around and about as well," L also answered vaguely.

[Mello]

"That's nice."
He cocked his head to one side to stare at L thoughtfully.

[L]

L decided, what the heck, let's jump to the matter at hand. "Have you been following the news?"

[Mello]

"Not really. I have no television. I have been picking up on some of the headlines." he said blankly

[L]

"I see" you filthy liar "then have you heard of the murders going on in London?"

[Mello]

"Something of them, yes."
He wondered whether acting shocked and outraged would be overkill. L would never believe it anyway.

[L]

L hummed under his breath. "Right then, what do you have to say about them?"

[Mello]

"They were rather gruesome. Most likely performed by one individual rather than a group as the style was similar for each one. The killer seemed to be targeting young single women."
He blinked once slowly.
"Why? Are you giving up the Kira case?"

[L]

"I've never given up on a case," L said, slightly offended even though he knew Beyond was just being deliberately obtuse.

[Mello]

"Oh, well then. I wondered if you'd got bored. "
