Near took a slice of the cake and sat down. He was still furious at Mello, he looked up at him once, but looked down again before Mello could see him.

Mello wanted some cake too, but he was still sulking. He unwrapped one of the chocolate bars he'd taken from the kitchen earlier and munched in silence.

L had a forkful of his delicious cake and just that like, an idea hit him.
Competition was healthy, he agreed with that idea. But Mello took it personally sometimes, which was just not on. L needed some kind of teamwork exercise for the boys to do. Something...amusing...

Near felt like growling at Mello. He glanced down back at his cake and took a bite voilently, pretending it was Mello's head.

Near refused to look or talk to Mello again. "I hate him....-"He thought to himself over and over. "Why does he have to be so mean!?" Thinking about Mello just made him more upset.

Mello glared at his hands. Near had no right to be annoyed. He was perfect... he didn't deserve it.... it was so unfair

Mello snapped a piece of chocolate off his bar aggressively. A few splinters fell onto his knee, and he brushed them off roughly.

After thinking up a suitable punishme -- no, a team-building activity -- L finished off his cake and smiled at the two children.
"In the future," he began, "You will need to be able to work with someone regardless of how much they annoy you. It is unprofessional to bring personal issues into the workplace. As my heirs, it's quite alarming to see that neither of you can reign in your animosity towards each other and enjoy the sweets before you. Therefore, I think I will need to hold a test."
