"No concrete ideas, but there's speculation that he may feel that he's 'cleansing' the world by killing those he deems unfit for society. I've run across several criminals with God-complexes during my detective career," L answered. Personally he felt it to be the case with this criminal here, especially since the victims' bodies showed no physical or sexual abuse, besides the obvious stranglation. It seemed like the killer lured his (or her, he conceded) victims and choked them to death before disposing the naked body in a dumpster.

Mello listened carefully, noting all the information down in his mind. If he could piece together the evidence for this case before Near and L, it would prove that he was a more worthy choice for the next L.

L heard the rustling from behind and hid his grin. Rivalry was a lovely thing since it always pushed those in it to greater heights.

Mello was always tetchy in the mornings. It was amusing, but only when L didn't have to deal with it. He reached over and patted Mello on the head to calm him down.
